Located next to XinBeitou Park, the Geothermal Valley is a jade-like spring covered with mists. The valley has a history of more than 200 years, it was once known as the Hell Valley due to several incidents of tourists . Today, the valley is known as Geothermal Valley that has a high temperature between 80 to 100 degrees Celsius. Being a hydrochloric acid spring with a high temperature, it is unsuitable for body contacts.
The Geothermal Valley has always been one of the popular sites for Beitou travel. In old days, visitors were able to enjoy boiling eggs at the valley. Recently, the Taipei City Government re-established the region with fences around the valley, and around the pavilions to preserve this unique scenic spot and to prevent further incidents. Due to preservation and prevention, visitors are not allowed to boil eggs at the Geothermal Valley anymore. However, the Geothermal Valley is still an excellent scenic spot for unique heavenly sceneries for your Taipei travel!
Traffic Information:
1、By MRT: Take MRT Danshui line(R line) to Xinbeitou Station(R22A station), walk towards Guanming Rd and pass Beitou Hot Spring Museum to reach the Geothermal Valley.
2、By Bus: Take bus route 216, 217, 218, 223, 266, 269 and get off at Xinbeitou MRT station stop(R22A station), then walk towards Zhongshan Rd to reach the Geothermal Valley in 10 mins.
